Mail Day Recap: 28 Aug 2020; Six Autographs!

I alluded to this in last night’s post, but I am once again attempting a major project with 2020 Chrome Rookie Autos. I did this last year too upon my reentry into the hobby. However, last year I didn’t really have a plan. That resulted in a lot of waste in the old pocketbook, as I indiscriminately purchased two or three autos for some of the cards. This year, I’m definitely not going to do that. Unless I choose to. So far, I’m off to a decent start. I already had 11 of the 74 players in this project, and today I added five new ones. All were purchased off eBay, packaged together in one buy it now listing. My guess is the seller was upset he didn’t pull any fire from his overpriced jumbo box, and just wanted to get rid of them. Well, I took them off his hands for a nice round price of $20.50 after shipping. So just over $4.00 a card. These are all just base autos, and falls in line with the price I paid for most non stars last year. So at least there’s a little bit of consistency.

In 2020 I am going to make sure that I don’t buy more than one auto for each player. I don’t care if the one I acquire is base, refractor, blue, green or whatever. Once I have that guy, I’m done. The only exception is going to be the three Rockies players. If I can get Rainbow’s through Orange, I think that will make me a happy Rockies collector. As you can see below, I knocked the first Orange Wave off the list for Dom Nunez. I am already up to four for him. If you recall from yesterday, I received the base auto in another eBay sale. I had already purchased the purple, and the blue wave. Now I just need the green and gold. I’m in no rush to get these, especially so I can focus on the other guys I need for the project. But it will be a nice long term project to work on. I’m in it for the long haul after all.

Anyway, I owe you all some updates on set progress from the TCDB trades from yesterday, and a couple more that I received today. I’ll get to those tomorrow. Until then, stay safe…
