Mail Day Recap: 27 Aug 2020

This might be a picture only post as it’s getting on in the evening and I feel like I need to get to bed before midnight. I didn’t post the cards I got yesterday as I was too busy watching the Avalanche almost blow it. I’ll try to acknowledge those tomorrow.

Anyway, there are three envelopes from today (2 TCDB and 1 eBay), so let’s get to it:

TCDB user @jmswyo sent five cards from 1986 Topps, the ‘19 Stadium Club Nolan below, and one of the ‘20 Chrome singles that I need for my base set. @jmswyo is a big Royals fan, and loves the shiny stuff. The one card I sent his way in this trade was the ‘20 Chrome Adalberto Mondesi Green Refractor #/99. This Nolan card is gorgeous. It will have to go into the PC instead of the set completion pile. Time to pick up another one.

Next we have a really large PWE trade, with 29 total cards changing hands. User @bbcards56 sent me the following:

  • 1978 Topps #243 and 301 (the cards are in fantastic shape for being 40+ years old)

  • 1982 Topps #34, 44, 237, 303, 525, and 613

  • 1983 Topps #395 and 727

  • 1984 Donruss #359

  • 1985 Topps #53, 80, 287, 546 , 590 (All Mets cards, ha!)

  • 1987 Topps #666

The card I like the most here is the 1984 Donruss. I think this set is very beautiful, and I’m looking forward to putting more effort into it. I also really like when traders pawn off cards from their least favorite teams. I mean essentially the entire ‘85 T set is in my want list. And he chose to send all Mets. Too funny.

To close out today’s mail, we have a 2020 Chrome Rookie Auto of Colorado Rockies Catcher Dom Nunez. I’ll get into this more later, but in 2019 I completed the project of acquiring at least one Rookie Auto for each player. I’m going to do it again this year, but I’m determined not to repeat the mistakes I made last year.

That’s it for now. The weekend is almost here, and there are many, many more sets to complete. Stay safe. Keep collecting!
