Mail Day: 2019 Topps Base Complete!!

It was a four package #Mailday today! I’ve been placing quite a few bids on eBay recently, trying to find good deals and also utilize the auction house to buy single cards needed for the completion of base sets. I heard on YouTube the other day that case breakers and wax pack rippers have in recent years saved the hobby. I’m not sure what that means since I’ve been away from the game, but I have realized that eBay serves to get individual cards into the hands of people that want them. And at decent prices. I appreciate the folks that take the time to scan all their hundreds of duplicates and list them in Buy It now auctions so us set builders can have one place to pick up the stragglers in our set builds.

We’ll start this unveiling with an unopened pack of 1985 Fleer wax. This will be the first vintage pack I’ve opened since I bought a pack of 1984 Topps back in the late 90’s and watched one of my roommates actually eat the gum. The look on his face that day was priceless. But I digress. I’m not going to open this one right away. I am hawking vintage wax, and I want to try and pick up 5 or 7 more packs from the early days to open on a YouTube video. Call it a throwback video, or whatever, but I think it will be fun. I know vintage can be a little risky with people resealing packs with junk, but the price of this pack was $2.00 plus shipping, so I think it is worth the risk. If I can score a Puckett or Clemens RC and have it be on video, then it will all be worth it.

Next up are every Colorado Rockies fans favorite pair of cousins. Nolan Arenado and Josh Fuentes. The Fuentes was needed for the Update complete set (I have a rainbow parallel of it, but I don’t like those in the base sets). And with Arenado, I wanted at least one of the Gold Parallels that are serially numbered. This one is #0588/2019. So I got one for the PC, and I’m one card closer to finishing Update base.

Speaking of base, with the last two packages, I have now completed 2019 Topps Series 1 and 2!!! These were purchased from eBay seller @millermr_mike. So thank you Mike! I will get these cards into their forever homes here in a minute. The last two cards for Update should be here sometime later this week, and then it will be on to completing 2019 Heritage. It definitely feels good to complete my first base set since returning to the hobby.
